A língua gestual portuguesa no ensino de geometria descritiva : terminologia específica

Abstract

The use of the specific terminology of Descriptive Geometry is present in the curricula of Descriptive Geometry A and Descriptive Geometry B in Secondary Education. Due to the absence of terminology in Portuguese Sign Language (LGP) for teaching these subjects to deaf students, there was a need to collect the terms in use and the possible terminological lexical proposals in the area of Geometry. The present study aims to create a terminological proposal of the specialty of Descriptive Geometry, the identification and listing of existing terms and the collection of candidate terms of the specialty of Descriptive Geometry for LGP. For this purpose, a survey of existing LGP terms was carried out on all printed lexicographic supports, digital and online, in materials and school support platforms, and a collection of terms was carried out, through an elicitation task, to 32 participants from the deaf community that operate in areas associated with Geometry. This work results in a terminological proposal of the specialty of Descriptive Geometry constructed from the identification of terms already attested in lexicographic and school materials of the LGP and the collection of terms in use by the deaf community. The terminological proposal presents 159 terms. Finally, in order to disseminate the proposed terminology, a proposal validation project is presented together with the creation of the missing terminology, as a consequent study of this research work.
