Epopeia e paródia na literatura grega antiga

Abstract

A presente obra versa sobre a relação de dependência entre epopeia e paródia e está organizada em duas partes principais. A Parte I oferece um enquadramento conceptual e contextual sobre a paródia, o seu carácter funcional e pragmático, numa linha evolutiva que compreende a problemática da definição, o campo de actuação literário, as origens hipotéticas de que provém e ainda uma introdução ao mais célebre exemplar de poesia paródica transmitido pelos antigos, a Batracomiomaquia. A Parte II consiste no estudo intertextual da Batracomiomaquia, na relação paródica, de dependência e contraste, com a poesia homérica. A paródia literária fixa-se, por regra, naquilo que no modelo sério está em maior relevo, razão por que a Batracomiomaquia reconfigura, mostrando sob perspectivas novas, esquemas conhecidos da tradição épica antiga, da homérica em particular. Da Odisseia retomam-se os vários topoi das viagens e da hospitalidade. Da Ilíada, por sua vez, recicla-se o ideal heróico da guerra e reaproveitam-se as sequências bélicas entre combatentes. Além dos denominadores temáticos associados às viagens odisseicas e à guerra iliádica, a Batracomiomaquia utiliza também recursos épicos comuns às duas epopeias de Homero, designadamente a intervenção divina.
