Abstract

In order to study phenomena that occur throughout the process of andropause, this study investigated how self-image can influence or impact on intimacy and relationship satisfaction in middle-aged men. This research took place from EVISA project using the Dyadic Adjustment Scale (RDAS) and Questionnaire body image and body image changes. It evaluated 138 men aged 40 and 73, who remained in a loving relationship. The results show a significant association between relational satisfaction and the importance given to self-image. It is suggested that in future studies the sample should be increased and compared in different age groups (younger men - 40 years old; older men - 60 years old).
