A depressão pós-menarca na pré-adolescência

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Several studies aim to analyze the influence of the menarche in the depression rates. Nonetheless, all of them are based on samples that include individuals of different age ranges, thus disregarding the age variable. For the present study, however, only 12-year old girls were considered in the sample. Thirty-two 12-year old girls attending the 7th grade of middle school were considered in this study. A socio-demographic questionnaire and the Youth Self-Report (YSR) were used afterwards for the data analysis (the SPSS, version 17.0). While the significant results of this paper (α = 0.05) suggest that the presence of the menarche that does not influence the depression rates, the girls group with menarche for 8 or more months feature higher average rates of depression (although the results are not significant).
