O objectivo deste estudo é averiguar de que forma o florescimento psicológico, (i.e., o bem-estar resultante de se sentir bem e sentir que funciona de forma eficaz), as necessidades psicológicas básicas (Deci & Ryan, 2000; NPB; necessidade de competência, autonomia e relações de pertença, essenciais para o bem-estar) e a personalidade (McCrae & John, 1992) se relacionam, tendo, para isso, que adaptar a escala de florescimento psicológico (PERMA; Kern et al., 2014) para a população portuguesa. A amostra contou com 511 participantes de ambos os géneros e com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 80 anos. Os resultados mostram que todas as variáveis estão relacionadas de forma fraca, moderada e/ou forte, e que as NPB não exercem um efeito mediador na relação entre personalidade e florescimento psicológico.

ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study is to discover how flourishing (i.e., well-being resulting of feeling good and feel that works effectively), the basic psychological needs (Deci & Ryan, 2000; BPN; the need for competence, autonomy and relatedness, which are essential to the well-being) and personality (McCrae & John, 1992) relate, and, for this, it is necessary validate the flourishing scale (PERMA; Kern et al., 2014) to the Portuguese population. The sample had 511 participants of both genders and aged 18 to 80 years. The result suggests that all variables are related weakly, moderate and/or severe, and that the BPN doesn’t play a mediating effect on the relationship between personality and flourishing.
