------ ABSTRACT ------ In this paper the authors suggest the need for the introduction of experimental methodology in the field of group psychotherapy, in view of the fact that it is impossible to assess, cientifically, the results presented by the multiple schools existing in this field. As a direct result of the personal experience of the senior author, who has worked with groups for 10 years, and choosing a group where both authors were therapists, seven variables are pointed out as those that seem more relevant to the individual healing process. Although an experimental methodology was not applied in the assessment of the final results nevertheless the authors plan to use it in a later phase of their work and with another group, because it is thought that the introduction of a cientific methodology in psychotherapy, as the behaviourists propose, consíitutes the best instrument for an evaluation of their practice, so that the latter can be systematized and raised to the level of a theory.
