Psicopatologia, insucesso escolar e estilos educativos parentais na adolescência

Abstract

O presente trabalho tem como principal objetivo analisar a relação entre os estilos educativos parentais e um conjunto de resultados desenvolvimentais em adolescentes, mais concretamente, a nível de perturbações psicopatológicas, de problemas académicos e da qualidade de vida relacionada com a saúde (QoL). Procuramos ainda perceber de que modo as variáveis sociodemográficas e familiares em estudo estão associadas aos estilos parentais, aos indicadores de psicopatologia dos adolescentes, ao insucesso escolar e aos indicadores de qualidade de vida nos participantes do estudo. Foram inquiridos 225 adolescentes da população escolar do concelho de Albufeira. Para a avaliação das variáveis em estudo utilizámos a Escala de Estilos Educativos (Oliva, Parra, Sánchez-Queija e López, 2007), a Escala de Psicopatologia do Adolescente (APS-SF), (Reynolds 2000, Lemos ,2011), o Kidscreen-52 (Gaspar et al. ,2008) e ainda um questionário de dados sociodemográficos. Os resultados indicam relações significativas entre as variáveis em estudo, nomeadamente entre os estilos educativos parentais e os problemas psicopatológicos dos adolescentes, o desempenho escolar e com a QoL. Verificámos que os estilos parentais caracterizados por afetividade positiva, apoio parental, promoção de autonomia, estabelecimento de regras e limites, monitorização das actividades dos jovens, boas capacidades de comunicação e humor são favoráveis a um adequado desenvolvimento dos adolescentes.
