[EN] Unlike in other Iberian regions, central places and regional hi?rarchisation in northern Portugal and the NW of Spain (Gallaecia) have been traditionally considered late phenomena, a by-product of the Roman conquest of the area. Starting from a re-examination of a scarcely known hillfort from Galicia (NW Spain), a new interpretation of the Late Iron Age central places in Gallaecia is offered.
