Abstract

Se trata de una propuesta didáctica para la introducción de la asignatura «Literatura Inglesa y su Didáctica» en los nuevos planes de estudio para la especialidad de «Maestro Especialista en Lengua Extranjera (Inglés)» en las Escuelas de Formación del Profesorado. Su contenido, que tiene un carácter más descriptivo que prescriptivo, sistematiza algunas experiencias previamente experimentadas en la Escuela Universitaria de Educación de Ávila (Universidad de Salamanca). Para su diseño se han tenido en consideración tres enfoques que guardan cierta autonomía, aunque mantienen una estrecha relación: uno de carácter estrictamente «literario», con una introducción breve a la historia y géneros de la literatura, o pluralidad de literaturas, en lengua inglesa; otro con mayor acento «lingüístico», donde la literatura en expresión inglesa se concibe como un instrumento o recurso especialmente favorable para la enseñanza de la lengua inglesa; y un tercer enfoque de carácter «pedagógico», que se detiene a estudiar tanto la literatura infantil inglesa (que comprende además de los cuentos tradicionales, las rimas y canciones infantiles, junto a dichos de extracción popular o folklórica) como las lecturas adaptadas (según edad, nivel de conocimientos de la lengua, tema, complejidad léxica o gramatical, etc.).
