Parroquias en disputa entre concejos y monasterios en León y Castilla (siglos XI-XIII)

Abstract

[ES] En este trabajo, se examinan las conflictivas relaciones establecidas entre aquellos concejos que poseían el control sobre sus parroquias y los intereses de otras instituciones eclesiásticas que pretendían controlarlas. A través del análisis de tres casos que pueden rastrearse documentalmente en los siglos XI al XIII, Villacete, Sotovellanos y Cordovilla, se profundiza en las causas de las tensiones con los monasterios de Sahagún, Oña y Santa María de Aguilar respectivamente. Se pone de relieve la existencia de fuertes resistencias a que los concejos perdiesen el control sobre sus iglesias parroquiales, ya que constituían una parte fundamental de sus identidades, lo que provocó incluso levantamientos y actos violentos contra los monasterios y sus agentes. Por otro lado, se pone de manifiesto el papel que desempeñaron otros señores que pretendían limitar la acción de esos monasterios porque suponía una disminución de su propia capacidad de actuación. Finalmente se señala la necesidad de entender estos procesos en clave de negociación para crear nuevos equilibrios dentro del marco de los procesos de formación de las parroquias.
