Factores de riesgo del trastorno del espectro autista

Abstract

El TEA es un conjunto de trastornos del neurodesarrollo que conllevan dificultades en la comunicaci?n y en la interacci?n social, adem?s de un conjunto de actividades restringido y repetitivo. El TEA incluye el trastorno autista, el trastorno generalizado del desarrollo no especificado y el S?ndrome de Asperger. Su prevalencia ha aumentado en los ?ltimos a?os y se trata de un trastorno multicausal en el que influyen gran variedad de factores, entre los cuales destacan: las alteraciones gen?ticas del cromosoma 7, las variaciones en el n?mero de copias y algunos mecanismos epigen?ticos. Adem?s, los factores ambientales y prenatales como la infecci?n viral, la edad de los progenitores y la deficiencia de zinc tambi?n influyen en su desarrollo. Existen otros factores de riesgo sometidos a estudio como la influencia del sexo (por la mayor prevalencia en el sexo masculino), intoxicaci?n por componentes presentes en vacunas como la triple v?rica, el autismo ?inducido? por el comportamiento de los padres, el d?ficit de vitamina D, f?rmacos agonistas del receptor ?-2-adren?rgico en embarazadas, una disfunci?n tiroidea materna y la exposici?n prenatal al alcohol. Se encuentran en estudio posibles factores protectores frente al TEA como la lactancia materna y la adecuada ingesta materna de ?cidos grasos poliinsaturados, ?cido f?lico, vitamina D, hierro y la hormona melatonina.
