Chinese diasporic literature, a branch of postcolonial literature, has made an incursion into the dominant cultures. This literary movement not only makes the Chinese culture penetrate the dominant cultures but it also infiltrates in other semi-peripheral or peripheral cultures. Based on the Chinese diasporic works edited in Spain, we study the factors that influence or determine the selection of original works. We highlight the role of ideology, prestigious awards, commercial benefits, and the active participation of the film industry, etc. in order to explore the dynamic and complex nature of the translation activity in the intercultural negotiation and the construction of the representation of Chinese culture in Spain.
