Authors: Mourão, Manuel da Costa;

Abstract

The author observed in various groups of the same ages of the scholastic population of the Island of S. Tomé the hemoglobin rate, arriving at the conclusion that the general average of this rate is visibly identical in black boys and mixed (71,9% and 71,2%). The medium hemoglobin rates of the girls (black and mixed) are superior tothose of the boys and increase with the black and the mixed in both sexes with the age. He also considered that both with the boys and the girls (black and mixed) the hemoglobin rate varies in accordance with the invertion of the degree of spleto that of the boys both black and mixed.
