Abstract

A poliomielite, doença infeciosa aguda provocada por vírus, apresenta-se hoje no mundo como uma das poucos doenças infeciosas cuja incidência tem vindo a aumentar cada vez mais, em contraste com o que se observa com a maioria das moléstias infecto-conatgiosas que neste século têm sido gradualmente dominadas pelos progressos da medicina preventiva.
