O Jornal de Modinhas (1792-96)

Abstract

Em Lisboa, entre 1792 e 1796, veio à luz o Jornal de modinhas, que publicava quinzenalmente partituras de canções, geralmente para voz(es) e instrumento de teclas. O Jornal ficou sempre lembrando como o primeiro periódico musical português, sendo um dos mais importantes testemunhos da canção portuguesa de seus dias. Nos últimos anos, um grupo de músicos, coordenado por Alberto Pacheco, tem trabalhado para realizar a edição crítica integral desse periódico. Essa edição está em sua fase de conclusão e a Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal já demonstrou interesse em publicá-la. Paralelamente, prepara-se a gravação de uma seleção de modinhas publicadas pelo Jornal que permanecem sem um registro fonográfico formal. A gravação, a ser realizada em meados deste ano, envolve mais de seis músicos e conta com o apoio financeiro da GDA, através do edital “Edição Fonográfica de Intérprete”. Essa comunicação pretende apresentar esse processo de edição e gravação, refletindo sobre seus desafios e métodos, enquanto ressalta a relevância e o significado do Jornal.
