Variables asociadas á competencia gramatical e léxica en galego e castelán do alumnado de Galicia ao final do ensino obrigatorio

Abstract

In this paper we assessed the sociodemographic, sociolinguistic and schools factors which have impact on grammatical and lexical competence of students of 4th degree of Secondary Compulsory School in Galician and Spanish language in Galician students. A canonical correlation analysis revealed a similar incidence in both languages of the academic performance language variable, but discrepancies in others: while the skills in Spanish focuses especially in factors related to socioeconomic status, in the skills in Galician sociolinguistic and sex factors have a greater weight. These conclusions confirm the importance of studying the social and educational factors that determine bilingual competence and the need of further study in this field of research SI
