Abstract

The following report covers the work carried out at the Escola Secundária José Falcão, in Coimbra, during the academic year of 2020-2021, as part of the final year of the Master's Degree in Portuguese and Foreign Language Teaching at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra.In the first part, in addition to the characterization of the socio-educational context, which encompasses the environment, the school and the classes, there is as also a presentation of the activities inherent to the supervised pedagogical practice (for Portuguese, with 12th grade students, and for English, with 11th grade students. In the second part a theoretical discussion will be carried out regarding the way that connectors contribute to the cohesion of a written text. Through the use of words or expressions, which specify the relationships between different linguistic segments, it is possible to associate ideas and establish links between them. The correct use of connectors is also what enables the textual cohesion and, consequently, an effective interpretation of the text. This report shows that the analysis and interpretation of the students' work is essential because it reveals how important the explicit teaching of connectors can be. As a matter of fact, the perception of the students, in general, was very positive, resulting in a notorious receptivity on their part, and the didactic activities reflected a marked development in terms of the variety of connectors used in written texts, both in the mother tongue and in the foreign language.

O presente relatório percorre o trabalho realizado na Escola Secundária José Falcão, em Coimbra, ao longo do ano letivo de 2020/2021, no âmbito do último ano do Mestrado em Ensino de Português e de Língua Estrangeira no 3º ciclo do Ensino Básico e no Ensino Secundário, na área de especialização de Português e de Inglês. Na primeira parte, para além da caracterização do contexto socioeducativo, que engloba o meio, a escola e as turmas, também se descrevem as atividades desenvolvidas durante a prática pedagógica supervisionada de Português, no 12º ano, e de Inglês, no 11º ano. Na segunda parte, que se encontra organizada em duas secções, é feita uma reflexão teórica sobre a forma como os conectores contribuem para a coesão de um texto escrito. Através da utilização de palavras ou expressões para especificar as relações entre diversos segmentos linguísticos, associando ideias e estabelecendo ligações entre elas, é o uso correto de conectores que permite a coesão textual e, consequentemente, uma interpretação do texto eficaz. A análise e a interpretação dos trabalhos dos/as alunos/as reflete a importância da didatização do uso dos conectores, no que ao ensino explícito importa. Com efeito, não só a perceção dos/as alunos/as, de uma maneira geral, foi muito positiva, traduzindo-se numa recetividade notória da sua parte, como as atividades didáticas espelham um desenvolvimento vincado ao nível da variedade dos conectores utilizados nos trabalhos escritos, quer na língua materna, quer na língua estrangeira.
