Abstract

O presente estudo teve como objetivo principal compreender o que é o trabalho para um grupo de adultos emigrantes e não emigrantes portugueses, recorrendo a entrevistas semi-estruturadas. Para a análise de dados recorreu-se à análise de conteúdo das entrevistas. Os resultados obtidos mostram que o trabalho ocupa um lugar central na vida dos participantes, sendo por um lado o que lhes permite fazer face às necessidades do dia-a-dia e por outro sentirem-se bem consigo mesmos. Percecionando o trabalho de forma muito próxima, as grandes diferenças entre os grupos encontram-se no modo como estes se prececionam mutuamente. The main purpose of this study was to understand what work means for a group of Portuguese emigrants and non emigrants adults, using semi-structured interviews. For the data analysis it was used content analysis of the interviews. The results show that work occupies a central place in the life of the participants, being on the one hand what allows them to cope with the needs of everyday life and on the other hand to feel good about themselves. Perceiving the work very closely, the major differences between the groups lie in the way in which they perceive each other.
