Abstract

The overweight and metabolic problems prevalence has been alerting the population to the need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Constantly faced with this reality and with different proposals for diets, the Millenial Generation seeks healthy meals and foods that promote satiety and satiation. The objective of this study is to evaluate, in a pre-clinical trial, the induction of satiety and satiation in a set of foods developed for the target audience – the Millenials – by the food industry within the scope of the MOBFOOD mobilizing project. In this study Wistar rats were used to assess the satiety patterns induced by the food developed under de MOBFOOD project, namely, by determining the interval between meals, the number of meals, the total food intake, among others. The set of foods developed under the MOBFOOD project (test foods) when made available to animals, promoted a longer time interval until the first meal, compared to the control foods (standard breakfast), presenting similar values to those observed with the positive control (standard diet). The results indicate that the innovative breakfast kit developed may have the capacity to promote satiety in Wistar rats. New studies, including clinical trials, should be done to confirm this information. The overweight and metabolic problems prevalence has been alerting the population to the need to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
