Abstract

Come possiamo definire il sentimento della saudade? Carolina Michaëlis de Vasconcelos risponde alla domanda nel 1916 con un piccolo saggio diventato oggi fondamentale, in cui esplora tutte le valenze di un sentimento che così intensamente si è venuto ad associare alla maniera di vivere, di sentire e di pensare dei portoghesi. Le sue “divagazioni filologiche e storico-letterarie” spaziano dall’etimologia all’etnografia, fino all’uso del termine nella letteratura della Penisola Iberica, con particolare attenzione al teatro, alla poesia e all’epistolografia.
