O lugar do "Afro": feminismos negros vs feminismos africanos

Abstract

My article intends to present some of the fundamental elements of African feminisms that may be pertinent to Black Feminisms, in particular in the US and Brazil. In fact, their different contexts of origin lead to differences that must be taken into account when considering the desirable construction of solidarities and coalition against patriarchy, colonialism and capitalism. The fact that Black feminisms develop in multicultural societies within a diaspora that dates from slavery times, reacting to oppressive social systems such as racism, and that African feminisms come from dominantly black multiethnic societies, in which the axis of oppression are foremost coloniality and class among people of the same race, lead to different identity constructions and to distinct demands, which correspond to diverse ways of conceptualizing feminisms.
