A presente investigação procurou estudar as representações sociais do luso-tropicalismo e sua associação com a aceitação de discriminação nas relações entre trabalhadores portugueses e estrangeiros, e com a posição de abertura (ou restrição) à entrada de imigrantes e refugiados em Portugal. A amostra utilizada é constituída por 224 trabalhadores portugueses e os dados foram recolhidos através de questionários auto-administrados. Os resultados revelam uma tendência para a concordância com a entrada de imigrantes e refugiados em Portugal e a existência de uma postura de maior amabilidade que hostilidade para com trabalhadores estrangeiros. O luso-tropicalismo não se encontra associado à abertura à entrada de imigrantes e refugiados, nem se revela eficaz na redução da aceitação de discriminação nas relações entre trabalhadores portugueses e estrangeiros, em sintonia com investigações anteriores (e.g., Valentim & Heleno, 2018). .

The present study’s main goal is to study the social representation of Luso-tropicalism and its association with the acceptance of discrimination in the relations between Portuguese and foreign workers, and with the position of openness (or restriction) to the entry of immigrants and refugees into Portugal. The sample has 224 Portuguese workers and the data were collected through a self-administered questionnaire.The results show a tendency towards agreement with the entrace of immigrants and refugees in Portugal and show a posture of kindness rather than hostility towards foreign workers. Luso-tropicalism isn’t associated with a position of openness to the entry of immigrants and refugees into Portugal and has showed ineffective in inhibiting the acceptance of discrimination in the relations between Portuguese and foreign workers, like in previous investigations (e.g., Valentim & Heleno, 2018). .
