Reaproveitamento das Águas Cinzentas

Reaproveitamento das Águas Cinzentas

Abstract

Over last decades there have been significant advances in the approach to water management, mainly through the implementation of new methodologies for wastewater reuse. Wastewater can be classified into three distinct categories: • yellow water; • greywater;• blackwater. Initially, in this study, the issue of greywater will be addressed through a qualitative and quantitative analysis. Subsequently, the reuse of greywater will be approached presenting and describing the most common unitary processes used in its treatment. The main propose of this study will be the implementation of a system of treatment of greywater in one of the major sources of water consumption, more concretely in a hotel. The applied system is based on the reuse of the greywater for the irrigation and toilet flushing. In last chapter, an economic study of the implementation of the greywater treatment system will be carried out, which will allow to conclude its economic viability. The 'recycling' of graywater should always be carried out in situ and in large graywater sources such as the hotel. The changes/adaptations for reuse with or without treatment collide in the difficulty of execution and cost. Where there is possibility of major advances and development of this type of implementations will always be in the design phase / constructions of new buildings.Cost-benefit tends largely to the implementation of gray water systems, as these types of treatments have a payback time, usually, in just one year.
