Abstract

O Mestrado Integrado em Ciências Farmacêuticas (MICF) contempla no seu Plano de Estudos, de acordo com a Diretiva 2013/55/EU, a realização de um Estágio Curricular na área da Farmácia Comunitária que permite ao estudante pôr em prática em contexto de trabalho o conhecimento adquirido ao longo do curso, assim como também adquirir novas competências. O estágio realizado na Farmácia Santa Isabel, sob a orientação da Dr.ª Ana Baptista, e compreendeu a duração de 641h. O presente relatório, pretende analisar o meu desempenho e evolução ao longo deste estágio através de uma análise SWOT (Strengths - Pontos fortes, Weaknesses - Pontos fracos, Opportunities - Oportunidades, Threats – Ameaças), e apresentação de um caso prático do âmbito da área das preparações de use veterinário.O cancro afeta grande parte da população mundial, tendo-se tornado uma das principais causas de morte no mundo. Segundo a Organização Mundial da Saúde, em 2008, 7,6 milhões de pessoas morreram de cancro e esse número aumentou para 8,8 milhões de mortes em 2015. Estima-se que, se nenhuma ação imediata for tomada, até 2030 o número global de mortes causadas pela doença aumentará em quase 80%. Dadas estas estatísticas, surge a necessidade de pesquisa de fármacos citotóxicos mais potentes e específicos para células cancerígenas. Oxiesteróis, produtos da oxidação do colesterol, destacam-se como moléculas de grande importância fisiológica, pois estão envolvidos numa grande variedade de processos fisiológicos, sendo ligandos de vários recetores celulares e da membrana citoplasmática, regulando o metabolismo lipídico, inflamação, viabilidade celular e afetando a fisiopatologia de várias doenças, como aterosclerose e cancro. As suas propriedades citotóxicas são aprofundadas nesta monografia, assim como sua capacidade de serem a matéria-prima de novos e melhorados fármacos anti-tumorais, através da síntese de novos oxiesteróis e da modulação do esqueleto base dos esteróides.

The Integrated Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences contemplates, in accordance with Directive 2013/55 / EU, the realization of a curricular internship in the area of Community Pharmacy, allowing students to apply in the work context the knowledge aquired throughout the course, as well as gaining new skills. The internship was done at Santa Isabel Pharmacy, under the guidance of Dr. Ana Baptista, and comprised the duration of 641 hours. This report intends to analyze my performance and evolution during the internship through a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis, and the presentation of a practical case from the area of veterinary preparations.Cancer affects a large part of the population, having become a leading cause of death worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, in 2008, 7.6 million people died from cancer and this number has increased to 8.8 million deaths in 2015. It is estimated that, if no immediate action is taken, by the year 2030 the global number of deaths from cancer will increase by almost 80%. Given these statistics, the need arises for research of more potent and selective cytotoxic drugs towards cancer cells. Oxysterols, cholesterol oxidation products, stand out as molecules of high physiological importance, since they are involved in a plethora of physiological processes, being ligands of various cellular and membrane receptors, regulating lipid metabolism, inflammation, cell viability, and affecting the pathophysiology of various diseases, such as atherosclerosis and cancer. Their cytotoxic properties are further analyzed in this monograph, as well as their capacity to be the source of new and improved anticancer drugs, by synthetizing new oxysterols and modulation of the cholesterol backbone.
