Artrite Reumatoide - Abordagens Terapêuticas

Abstract

The first part of this work is a monograph on rheumatoid arthritis (RA), in which it is intended to address, in particular, the existing therapeutic options. The estimated prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis in the Portuguese population is about 0,8 – 1,5%. It has a complex pathophysiology and is still not fully understood. The main clinical manifestation is multiple cartilage and bone damage, which leads to progressive disability and decreased quality of life of the patient. Therapeutic strategies include education of the patient and its family, physical rehabilitation medicine, pharmacological therapies and surgical treatment. Therapeutic agents that can ameliorate the signs and symptoms of RA as well as reduce the disease progression are called disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs). DMARDs may be synthetic, currently designated in this study by conventional or biological therapies. The improvement of signs and symptoms as well as the regression of the disease is the main goal of drug therapy, which is more effective when it’s started on its early stages. The second part of this work consists of a SWOT analysis of the curricular internship carried out in community pharmacy which took place in the Pharmacy São Miguel located in Guarda district. ..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
