The main objective of the present study was to deepen the knowledge about the social representations of luso-tropicalism and its relation with the strategies of acculturation and attitudes towards immigration, namely with regard to the entry of refugees in the country, to the ideal number of immigrants in Portugal, as well as to the position that the government must take against the immigrants present in Portugal. It was also intended to contribute to the validation of the two scales used. The sample is made up of 169 portuguese workers from the administrative sector of different public and private sector organizations, and the data were collected using self-administered questionnaires. Due to the scarcity of research in the area and to the construction process in which the instruments are located, the study takes on a purely exploratory nature. In the analysis of the data, we used, essentially, exploratory factorial analyzes, descriptive statistics and correlation analyzes. The results obtained are in the sense of studies already carried out, revealing, in general, the agreement with the luso-tropicalist ideas, and the fact that it is associated with prejudice. The results also suggest that there is a trend towards openness to immigration, and integration has proved to be the preferred strategy for the acculturation of immigrants in Portuguese society and the Portuguese labor market. There were also some significant correlations between the factors of both scales. Finally, possible implications in the organizational context were also explored .

O presente estudo teve como principal objetivo aprofundar o conhecimento acerca das representações sociais do luso-tropicalismo e sua relação com as estratégias de aculturação e atitudes face à imigração, nomeadamente no que diz respeito à entrada de refugiados no país, ao número ideal de imigrantes em Portugal, bem como à posição que o governo deve tomar face aos imigrantes presentes em Portugal. Pretendeu-se também contribuir para a validação das duas escalas utilizadas. A amostra é constituída por 169 trabalhadores portugueses do setor administrativo de diferentes organizações do setor público e privado e os dados foram recolhidos com recurso a questionários autoadministrados. Devido à escassez de investigação na área e ao processo de construção em que os instrumentos se encontram, o estudo assume um cariz meramente exploratório. Na análise dos dados, foram utilizadas, essencialmente, análises fatoriais exploratórias, estatísticas descritivas e análises de correlações. Os resultados obtidos vão no sentido de estudos já realizados, revelando, em geral, a concordância com as ideias luso-tropicalistas, e o facto de este estar associado ao preconceito. Os resultados sugerem também que há uma tendência para a abertura à imigração, pelo que a integração revelou ser a estratégia preferida para a aculturação de imigrantes na sociedade e mercado de trabalho português. Verificaram-se, ainda, algumas correlações significativas entre os fatores de ambas as escalas. Por último, foram também exploradas possíveis implicações no contexto organizacional.
