Inovações Tecnológicas na Diabetes Mellitus tipo 1

Abstract

Knowing that Diabetes Mellitus type 1 is a chronical metabolic disease growing worldwide, which results from the destruction of beta pancreatic cells and leads to theabsolute loss insulin secretion and hyperglycemia, the approach is made by insulin therapyand blood glucose monitoring for life. This monography aims to discuss the technologicinnovations: the continuous monitoring of glucose and the continuous subcutaneous insulininfusion pumps. The development in these medical devices, essential in the management ofDiabetes Mellitus type 1, allows the reduction in complications and treatment. Thepharmacist have an important role because he has the knowledge and skills to teach and helpthe diabetic patient to use new medical devices efficiently. Keywords: Type 1 diabetes mellitus; insulin therapy; glucose monitoring; the role of thepharmacist in diabetes. The curricular plan of the Mestrado Integrado em Ciências Farmacêuticas includes thecompletion of a Curricular Internship, held in Community Pharmacy. The stage was held atFarmácia Silcar from January 9 to May 26, 2017, making a daily average of 8/9 hours. The purpose of this report is to analyze critically all the activities and knowledge acquired during the internship. This analysis will be carried out according to the principles ofthe SWOT analysis, where I will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the internship andthe opportunities and threats that may have a professional influence in the future. Keywords: SWOT; Sifarma 2000®; pharmacists order.
