Craniossinostoses : desenvolvimentos recentes

Abstract

Craniosynostosis are cranial malformations due to premature fusion of one or more sutures. These are of great clinical and morphological diversity. Craniosynostosis can be divided into two main groups: non-syndromic and syndromic. Considered the literature between 2000 and 2010, we compared different surgical techniques in treating non syndromic craniosynostosis for operative moment, efficacy and safety. We have compared the Cranial Vault Remodeling_CVR, with the distraction techniques_ Spring Mediated and Endoscopic-Assisted Strip Craniectomies With Cranial Orthotic Molding Therapy. The remodeling techniques remain the gold standard in craniosynostosis surgery but the latest developments help to increase therapeutic options. Thus the future interventions on the non-syndromic craniosynostosis seems to be the adaptation of different approaches depending on the type of synostosis, age at diagnosis and relative risk of each patient.
