Conectores T-PerfobondUnconnected submetidos a carregamento monotónico

Abstract

In the present dissertation, for a masters degree in the field of steel and composite construction, an investigation of the structural behavior of T- Perfobond shear connectors with welded and non-welded flanges will be developed. This work initially comprises a literature review on the subject, followed by an experimental part through push-out type tests. At this stage T- Perfbond and T-Perfobond Unconnected type connectors, were monotonically tested, varying some relevant shear connectors’ parameters. The behavior of composite structures is based on the joint action between the steel profile and the concrete, at the cost of development of longitudinal shear forces. Assays in composite structures shows that, for early loading stages, most of the longitudinal section is developed by a chemical bond at the interface between the concrete and the steel surface. However, at higher loads the use of shear connectors is necessary to ensure the shear transfer at the concrete to steel interface. Using an experimental methodology, eight push-out monotonic tests were prepared and conducted, in order to characterize the connectors’ behavior by vaying key parameters. The studied variables were: the number of steel reinforcing bars used in the shear connector holes, the concrete strength class and the adopted type of weld configutation (flanges connected and unconnected to the beam’s top flange). The shear connector studied in this investigation is a derivative of the T-Perfobond connector, the T-PerfobondUnconeccted. The main difference between them is the lack of welds ar the connector’s flange aiming to obtain a higher ductility. The results obtained in monotonic tests are represented in terms of force-slip curves, and are comparatively analyzed in order to assess the relative significance of the parameters investigated. Finally, analytical load carrying predicting models were compared to rhe experimental findings leading to the development of a new analytical model to calculate the loas carrying capacity of the T-PerfobondUnconnected connector.
