Efeito da escovagem na rugosidade superficial de seis resinas compostas

Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of simulated toothbrushing on surface roughness of six resin-based composites (RBCs) Materials and Methods: The materials evaluated were: Ceram.X® mono (Dentslpy, Middle East & Africa), G-ænial (GC Europe), Filtek™ Supreme XTE (3M ESPE), Brilliant EverGlow™ (Coltène, Whaledent, Altstätten), Tetric EvoCeram® (Ivoclar Vivadent, United States and Canada) and Venus® Pearl (Heraeus Kulzer, Mitsui Chemicals Group). Ten specimens of each composite measuring 8mm in diameter and 2mm in thickness were made. One side of each specimen was submitted to laboratory standardized finishing and polishing processes using silicon carbide abrasive papers. The specimens were subjected to a toothbrushing simulation process with an electric toothbrush (Oral-B Pro 600®, Braun GmbH, Kronberg, Germany) under a 1:1 slurry (dentifrice/artificial saliva) for 30 minutes and a load of 200g. The surface roughness (Sa value-μm) was measured before and after toothbrushing simulation using a non-contact 3D optical profiler (S NEOX 3D, Sensofar) and the variation calculated. Additional SEM evaluation was also performed. Statistical analysis results were analyzed with repeated measures ANOVA test and post-hoc analysis with Tukey correction. (α=0.05) Results: All groups’ revealed significant increase in roughness, which was variable from group to group. Filtek™ Supreme XTE and Venus® Pearl obtained the lowest values of variation of roughness and Tetric EvoCeram® Bulk Fill the highest ones. Conclusions: Within the limitations of the present study, toothbrushing increased the roughness of the six resin based composites with statistical differences between them.
