Abstract

Objetivos: O principal propósito deste artigo de revisão é reunir e sumariar a informação publicada desde 2011 sobre a Sazonalidade das Perturbações do Humor. Métodos: Fez-se uma revisão de artigos sobre Sazonalidade das Perturbações do Humor, tendo sido analisados 59 artigos científicos. Resultados: Apresentou-se um resumo da informação colhida que inclui uma pequena resenha histórica, uma breve descrição da etiologia, fisiopatologia, epidemiologia, critérios de diagnóstico e clínica da Perturbação Afetiva Sazonal e, por fim, as suas principais abordagens terapêuticas. Conclusões: Concluiu-se que a Perturbação Afetiva Sazonal é um tipo de Depressão Major Recorrente com padrão sazonal e que a falta de luz no meio ambiente é o fator precipitante mais importante para o seu desenvolvimento. O tratamento pode incluir medicamentos antidepressivos, psicoterapia, fototerapia, dieta e exercício, usados isoladamente ou em combinação, e a preferência do doente pelo tipo de tratamento deve ser tida em conta.Objectives: The main purpose of this article is to gather and summarize the information published since 2011 on the Seasonality of Mood Disorders. Methods: This review was made based on articles on the sazonality of mood disorders and 59 scientific articles were included. Results: A summary of the information analized is presented here, which includes a brief historical overview, a description of the etiology, patophysiology, epidemiology, diagnostic criteria and clinical signs and symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder and finally its main therapeutic approaches. Conclusions: It is concluded that the disorder is a type of Major Recurrent Depression with seasonal pattern and the lack of light in the environment is the most important precipitating factor for its development. Treatment may include antidepressant medication, psycotherapy, phototherapy, diet and exercise, used either alone or in combination, and patient preference for the type of treatment shoud be taken into account.
