O percurso das identidades nacionais espanhola, basca e catalã e dos respetivos nacionalismos

Abstract

A Espanha das últimas três décadas, graças ao seu modelo territorial de autonomias, apresenta-se como um exemplo particularmente rico de coexistência, numa mesma unidade política soberana, de diversas identidades nacionais. Este artigo pretende abordar esta diversidade, através da análise da evolução da pluralidade identitária espanhola, no período que decorre do alvorecer dos nacionalismos (século XIX) aos primeiros anos do atual regime democrático. Para isso, focamo-nos especificamente no percurso dos três principais nacionalismos a atuar em Espanha (o espanhol, o basco e o catalão) e na forma como, em conformidade com os seus objetivos específicos, contribuíram para fortalecer ou para enfraquecer o Estado-nação espanhol.
