Abstract

Com a crescente globalização, ao longo das últimas décadas, surgiram novos e sofisticados fenómenos de ocultação de capitais. O branqueamento de capitais merece, pois, uma particular atenção devido às consequências negativas que provoca no sistema económico-financeiro mundial. Face a esta constatação, o objetivo do presente relatório é o de enfatizar o conceito do branqueamento de capitais e algumas temáticas a ele associadas, concretamente as tipologias, o financiamento do terrorismo, os deveres das entidades financeiras, a gestão de riscos, e o enriquecimento ilícito ou injustificado. O método preferencialmente utilizado foi o qualitativo e a abordagem indutiva. Não menos importante, este relatório aborda igualmente a experiência curricular do aluno numa instituição financeira. Concluiu-se que as instituições financeiras devem cumprir deveres e gerir riscos de forma a efetuar um combate eficaz ao branqueamento de capitais. Tal combate é suportado por uma legislação específica.
