As Termas de Sangemil: Parâmetros Ambientais

Abstract

Abstract Contamination risk of Sangemil thermal spring is, to some extent, controled by the interference produced upon the natural flow of the hydrothermal system during the resource exploitation. The main threat to the hydrothermal resource proceeds from the possibility of mixing the mineral water with subsuperficial cold waters which circulate in the domain of the discharge area. Futhermore, cold waters are the preferential vehicle for chemical and organic polluting agents, which increases its potential for contamination. The spatial variation of the hydraulic characteristics in the fractured aquifer points to the necessary delimitation of the protection areas according to the prevailing flow direction. The quality protection, by monitoring the physical, chemical and microbiological parameters must be submitted to rules that should be fixed according to medical uses.
