Periodismo digital : intersecção e desmaterialização

Abstract

With the surging of Internet, the news press - the mean of mass communication most influent throughout history - is propelled to occupy a place on cyberspace, giving place to a new genre: digital periodical publications. As digital periodic publications are defined all the online newspapers and magazines that are published within a regular interval. Privy to the growth of the technological market, periodical newspapers, already spread through the various platforms, introduce every day new possibilities of interaction and news consumption. On this academic work is given an historical review of the course of news press from its’ early stages to current days. It is focused the way of how the new access to the information came to change the social and cultural paradigm under which we live, being for such made an analyses of content of some periodical publications and how they adapted to the several communication platforms that exist. Hereupon is presented a study regarding the consumption of periodical publications in Portugal on their different platforms. It is distinctly noticeable that the digital technology is continually evolving, but there is still a long road to be covered until the digital publications assume all the possibilities that technology thus allow.
