Abstract

A embolia pulmonar é uma das causas de doença e morte inesperadas mais comuns, sendo, por isso, desejável o diagnóstico precoce da doença. Com esse propósito, e com o objectivo de auxiliar o diagnóstico médico, foi desenvolvido um método automático de visualização e segmentação de embolias em exames de Angiografia Pulmonar por Tomografia Computorizada Pulmonar. Numa primeira etapa, o método realiza uma segmentação pulmonar 3D para limitar o espaço de procura à região pulmonar. Na segmentação pulmonar foram utilizadas técnicas de threshold e operadores morfológicos. No passo seguinte, é determinada a segmentação vascular com o recurso a processos de co-registo, o que possibilita o alinhamento de volumes para que estes possam ser comparados e assim salientar os vasos sanguíneos. As embolias são depois detectadas analisando as suas características dentro dos vasos sanguíneos. As características usadas foram a intensidade, o volume e a localização. O método foi testado em exames de pacientes com embolia pulmonar, permitindo detectar as zonas com embolia pulmonar, assim como visualizá-las secção a secção e tridimensionalmente. O desempenho do método foi comparado com a detecção feita por um radiologista.
