Abstract

O desenvolvimento da tecnologia e da ciência tem vindo a exigir um conhecimento cada vez mais rigoroso das propriedades termodinâmicas e de transporte das soluções electrólitos. De entre as várias propriedades de soluções, a difusão do cloreto de níquel em meio aquoso na presença de diferentes componentes e em diferentes concentrações é o tema em relação ao qual temos vindo a desenvolver um trabalho experimental. A influência do cloreto de sódio e de ácido clorídrico na difusão de cloreto de níquel em soluções aquosas foi investigada, usando o método de dispersão de Taylor para medir coeficientes de difusão mútua ternários para soluções aquosas de NiCl2 + NaCl, e NiCl2 + HCl, a 298,15 K e no intervalo de concentrações entre (0,000-0,050) mol.dm-3, para cada soluto. Esses resultados foram interpretados com base nos coeficientes de difusão mútua que foram estimados a partir das equações de Nernst. Numa segunda parte deste trabalho foram medidos coeficientes de difusão mútua para os sistemas envolvendo metil-xantinas (i.e., NiCl2+teofilina e NiCl2+Cafeína), a mesma temperatura, usando a mesma técnica e no intervalo de concentrações entre (0,001-0,050) mol dm-3. Os resultados são comparados com os obtidos para os sistemas binários H2O+NiCl2, H2O+teofilina e H2O+cafeína, já publicados. Estes dados permitem-nos ter uma melhor compreensão da estrutura destes sistemas ternários e seus comportamentos termodinâmico. Por exemplo, é possível tirar conclusões sobre a influência deste electrólito na difusão de qualquer um dos componentes em estudo, ou obter informações de alguns parâmetros, tais como o número de moles de cada componente transportados por mole do outro componente impulsionado pelo seu próprio gradiente de concentração
