As part of an internship that took place in the archive service of the Torre de Moncorvo Municipal Library, this report emphasises the enhancement of the mining heritage in the municipality of Torre de Moncorvo. The main aim of the study is to promote the industrial and mining heritage by creating two walking routes primarily for tourists. The first focused on the forged and cast-iron railings of the windows in the historic town centre and the second centred on a walking route around the old mining activity that happened in Carvalhal. The principal activities for the first route consisted of identifying, photographing and classifying the grilles according to their architectural style, then selecting the most relevant ones for an urban itinerary. For the second route, through the former mining site, documentary research was carried out to contextualise the different elements present on the site and fieldwork was done to establish a list of points of interest. One of the difficulties encountered was the lack of sources on the subjects, which required in-depth multilingual research (English and French). Other technical challenges were encountered during the creation and printing of the maps and leaflets. These obstacles were resolved thanks to the acquisition of competences in cartography, cultural information processing as well as pagination. The experience learnt during the internship made it possible to understand the importance of valuing industrial and mining heritage through cultural tourism.
