Abstract

Abstract: The present research project aims to map and discuss the production of scientific knowledge authored by the Terena indigenous people, inhabitants of the Gleba Iriri Novo Terena Indigenous Land (TI) in the Amazon. The objective is to focus on alternative forms of academic knowledge production based on the trajectories of these researchers, from within indigenous villages to universities and across multiple practices and knowledge systems. In this way, it seeks to access what they have produced and whether these dialogues affect both indigenous and non-indigenous spaces and people. The methodology employed included a literature review to explore the plurality of epistemological proposals constructed by individuals belonging to various indigenous ethnicities, in addition to the Terena people, assuming this as a starting point for ethnographic work. Subsequently, field research was conducted in the Turipuku Terena village and other Terena villages in TI Iriri. The investigation, from a dialogical perspective, focuses on what Terena researchers have produced, combining their theories and practices in the "scientific endeavour". This proposal, therefore, through fieldwork, aims to deepen the practices of Terena scientific endeavour that underpin their theoretical and methodological proposals. This work aims at an ethnography that seeks to understand what the Terena have been producing in the scientific field through their academic trajectories and from their specific epistemological pragmatics. It is argued that, based on field experience, it is possible to reflect on the scientific know-how of these researchers, as their epistemological proposals link academic production to the processes of embodied experience of the territory, making "practice" essential in the elaboration of "theory" and, therefore, necessary as an epistemological instrument and a transformation of the scientific endeavour.
