Abstract

Esta comunicação pretende refletir sobre simulação de loucura, situação que, de acordo com Júlio de Matos, não era rara nos exames mentais efetuados em Conselho Médico-Legal nos finais do século XIX e inícios do século XX. Procurar-se-á abordar os procedimentos levados a cabo pelos peritos, no sentido de concluir tal cenário, para além dos trâmites legais a seguir em situações desta natureza. Para tal, dar-se-á a conhecer o caso de F. M. M.*, autor de um triplo homicídio ocorrido em Montemor-o-Velho, que foi avaliado pelo Conselho Médico-Legal da circunscrição de Coimbra em abril de 1909 e cujo veredito confirmou a efetiva simulação de loucura.
