Importância dos Medicamentos Manipulados na Terapêutica: Revisão histórica e estado atual

Abstract

A Indústria Farmacêutica dedica-se ao fabrico em série de medicamentos. Todavia, os medicamentos industriais não satisfazem todas as necessidades terapêuticas. As razões para a utilização dos medica-mentos manipulados podem ser diversas, sendo a principal a possibilidade de personalizar a terapêuti-ca de doentes específicos. Com base nas considerações anteriores, o principal objetivo deste artigo foi efetuar um enquadramento histórico dos medicamentos manipulados em Portugal, apresentando-se exemplos práticos e as suas vantagens terapêuticas. Adicionalmente, pretendeu-se expor, cronologica-mente, os principais documentos legais que regularam a preparação e a dispensa deste tipo de medica-mentos. Em relação à metodologia, recorreu-se à análise documental de diversas fontes, privilegiando- -se os formulários, as farmacopeias e os artigos científicos

The Pharmaceutical Industry aims to manufacture medicines in a large scale. However, industrial medicines do not satisfy all therapeutic needs. The reasons for the use of compounded medicines can be diverse, being the main one the possibility of personalizing the therapy of specific patients. Based on the previous considerations, this article aimed to perform a historical framework of compounded medicines in Portugal, presenting practical examples and highlighting their therapeutic advantages. Additionally, it was intended to present chronologically the main legal documents that regulated the preparation and dispensing of this type of medicines. A documental analysis from different sources was carried out, giving priority to formularies, pharmacopoeias, and scientific articles
