Recuperação de Calor Residual em Fontes Gasosas numa Indústria de Pasta e Papel

Abstract

This monograph focuses on the study of waste heat recovery solutions, which allow for increasing the energy efficiency of the industrial process of pulp and paper production, thus making it more sustainable and energy efficient. For this purpose, an identification and characterization of all gaseous sources of waste heat in the industrial complex was carried out. These sources of residual heat were characterized according to the properties of the gaseous fluids released, such as their temperature, flow rate, and constituents. For an adequate framework, the procedural steps that gave rise to them were tried. In the second phase, the available technologies were studied, as well as their applicability to the identified sources. The application of heat recovery technologies was carried out considering the characteristics of the source and the needs of the area where it is located. Finally, feasibility analyzes were conducted to determine the economic profitability of each solution. Based on expected initial investments and possible income generated. This work allowed the characterization and realization of a set of projects with interesting viability. Namely, the recovery of heat from the combustion gases of the lime kiln to produce electricity through an ORC. The recovery of high-pressure condensate to low-pressure steam direct, thus exploiting the thermodynamic properties of steam. It was also possible to study an application to produce cold water in addition to heat recovery from paper machine exhausts, and through the recovery of flash steam released in the delignification process. An application of preheating boiler feed water was also studied, through the recovery of heat from the flash steam released in the degasser and in the decompression of low-pressure condensate.
