Coparentalidade no pós-divórcio: Resultados do programa Crianças no Meio do Conflito

Abstract

Divorce brings several negative consequences that affect coparenting and children, making it important to implement parental education programs that promote cooperative coparenting and detriangulation of children. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of the implementation of the program Crianças no Meio do Conflito by comparing the results before and after participation in the program, focusing on parental competence, coparenting practices, acrimony in coparenting, and perceived change in parental burnout. The possible effects of sociodemographic variables and other factors related to divorce and program implementation were also assessed. An exploratory quantitative study was conducted with a sample of 53 divorced fathers/mothers who participated in the program in group format, either online or in person, as part of the Projeto Adélia. The results indicate statistically significant changes in the total acrimony scale and two of its subscales: conflict involving the child and impact of the relationship on the child. The majority of fathers/mothers perceived a reduction in parental burnout. Regarding the differential analysis, it was found that the type of coparenting arrangement was the only variable with a significant impact, specifically on the impact of conflict on the parent-child relationship. This suggests that the program produces significant changes in the indicated variables regardless of parents' sociodemographic factors (e.g., education level), factors related to divorce (e.g., presence or absence of legal conflict), and the mode of program delivery (in-person or online).
