Cultura académica e movimento estudantil em Coimbra

Abstract

O presente texto centra-se na Universidade de Coimbra e na cultura estudantil, procurando caracterizar as sociabilidades, as práticas e as orientações subjectivas dos estudantes, em particular no que se refere a aspectos como: a tradição festiva e ritualista da academia; as atitudes e subjectividades perante a vida social; o papel da associação de estudantes e a importância das suas actividades; e a participação nas acções associativas e de protesto público. Discutem-se ainda alguns aspectos relacionados com a chamada praxe académica (“trote” no Brasil), as divisões entre diferentes sectores da população estudantil (nomeadamente entre os residentes nas ‘Repúblicas’ e os restantes, bem como as diferenças de género), no contexto das mudanças que ocorreram nas últimas décadas, e que levaram à regionalização, democratização e feminização da UC. Estas questões são apresentadas e discutidas tendo como principal objectivo reflectir sobre o movimento estudantil, o significado das suas lutas do passado e os desafios e dificuldades que se colocam hoje à participação dos estudantes na vida associativa e na acção colectiva.
