A deflagração de incêndios florestais na interface urbano-florestal tem-se tornado cada vez mais recorrente, tendo como motivo a aproximação da urbanização à floresta, ou por outro lado, o abandono de terrenos usados para a prática de agricultura de subsistência que causa o avanço da floresta até aos tecidos urbanos. Pelas suas características, na interface urbano-florestal originam-se grandes incêndios florestais, sendo exemplo disso os ocorridos no ano de 2017 em Portugal, tendo estes como consequências inúmeras vítimas mortais, prejuízos sociais, naturais e económicos.Assumindo-se que os pequenos aglomerados populacionais não têm as mesmas condições de proteção e ajuda que os centros urbanos, devido à escassez de serviços, têm sido criados programas de prevenção e autoproteção contra incêndios florestais pelo mundo fora, como o Firewise e o Firesmart que se tornaram casos de sucesso. Também em 2018 são criados em Portugal os programas “Aldeia Segura” e “Pessoas Seguras”, no entanto é notório por todo o país um abrandamento na execução das suas medidas.Este trabalho tem como objetivo, identificar o nível de realização das medidas de implementação dos aglomerados populacionais inseridos nos programas, com data a 31 de julho de 2021, recorrendo-se numa fase posterior à realização de inquéritos e entrevistas com vista à identificação de motivos que levem a estes atrasos.Na parte final do trabalho são feitas recomendações, tendo também como base a metodologia utilizada na implementação dos programas Firewise e Firesmart, de modo a acrescentar melhorias aos programas “Aldeia Segura” e “Pessoas Seguras”.

The outbreak of forest fires at the wildland urban interface has become increasingly recurrent, due to the urbanisation of the forest or, on the other hand, to the abandonment of land used for subsistence farming, which causes the forest to advance towards the urban fabric. Due to their characteristics, major forest fires are caused at the wildland urban interface, an example of which are the fires that occurred in 2017 in Portugal, resulting in numerous fatalities and social, natural and economic losses.It is assumed that small settlements do not have the same conditions for protection and help as urban centres, due to the lack of services, so forest fire prevention and self- protection programmes have been created around the world, such as Firewise and Firesmart, which have become success stories. Also in 2018, the "Aldeia Segura" and "Pessoas Seguras" programmes were created in Portugal, however a slowdown in the implementation of measures is noticeable throughout the country.The aim of this work is therefore to identify the level of achievement of the implementation measures of the settlements included in the programmes, dated 31 July 2021, using surveys and interviews at a later stage with a view to identifying the reasons for these delays.In the final part of the paper recommendations are made, based also on the methodology used in the implementation of the Firewise and Firesmart programmes, in order to add improvements to the “Aldeia Segura” and “Pessoas Seguras” programmes.
