Sistema solar térmico com armazenamento sazonal

Abstract

In a home, most of the energy needs for heating and preparing domestic hot water can be met through solar energy. However, the intermittence and lag between its availability and use make it a challenging task. In this dissertation, the design of a solar thermal system that satisfies most of these needs is done. This system was implemented in a 120 m2 housing model located in Coimbra, inhabited by four people. Using the TRNSYS software, it can be concluded that the system with a 40 m3 seasonal storage tank and a total solar collector area of 25.1 m2 can achieve a total annual solar fraction of 97%. The calculated energy requirements for heating the compartments and for preparing domestic hot water were 13.6 GJ and 8.4 MJ, respectively. In this case, the annual solar fraction for domestic hot water was 95 % and for home heating it was 98.3%. Throughout the study, a sanitary hot water tank volume of 130 L was selected, a solar collectors inclination of 45 º, a thermal insulation thickness of 40 cm and a ratio between height and diameter of the seasonal tank equal to one . Finally, this system was implemented in the housing model in different climatic zones of Portugal and the new results obtained are compared. This dissertation may serve as an incentive to carry out new studies on the implementation of seasonal thermal storage systems in Portugal, as well as its economic analysis.
