Abstract

Como muitos outros aspectos da vida humana, a experiência religiosa tem um passado evolutivo e relaciona-se com traços comportamentais e psicológicos adaptativos. Neste artigo abordaremos os comportamentos dos animais não humanos que podem ser precursores da mente religiosa e apontaremos para os modos como a evolução do cérebro social, com a emergência da imaginação analógica e da capacidade para metaforizar, abriu caminhos para novos tipos de significados e de comportamentos associados às religiões.
