Abstract

Questo libro muove dalla considerazione del tempo «vuoto» posto tra gli atti per interrogarsi sul «pieno» della temporalità dell’azione drammatica e su come questa dimensione si strutturi in rapporto alla prima. Allo scopo intreccia tre materie: un abbozzo di teoria del tempo drammatico; una breve storia delle teorie della durata teatrale e della divisione in atti dal rinascimento a oggi; un’analisi di campioni drammaturgici scelti dall’intera letteratura europea, dal Cinquecento al Novecento, considerati alla luce della loro articolazione temporale. Sfilano, dunque, capitolo per capitolo, le trame e l’esperienza del tempo rappresentate da Andreini, Beaumarchais, Beckett, Brecht, Buero Vallejo, Calderón, Corneille, De Filippo, Hardy, Goldoni, Ibsen, García Lorca, Machiavelli, Molière, Pinter, Pirandello, Priestley, Ruzante, Salacrou, Savinio, Schiller, Shakespeare, Valle-Inclán, Lope de Vega, Wilder. E insieme Amleto, il Cid, Don Giovanni e le donne della Veniexiana.
