This article discusses one aspect of the condition of exile: the interreelación between personal and collective memory, from five Singulars and complementary works: Vida en claro, by José Moreno Villa, Otoño en Madrid hacia 1950, by Juan Benet, Los años sin excusa, by Carlos Barral, Autobiografía de Federico Sánchez, by Jorge Semprún and Travesías, by Jaime Salinas. Using the concept of individual and collective memory developed by Paul Ricoeur I discuss the difficult combination of both among writers in situation of exile and dictatorship. This is most difficult because of the many difficulties to interact.
