Paleoambiente y antropización en Asturias durante el Holoceno

Abstract

El análisis polínico de tres turberas, un lago y un yacimiento arqueológico de la provincia de Asturias, junto con una revisión bibliográfica de los estudio paleobotánicos de la zona, ha permitido reconstruir la dinámica de la vegetación y de los cambios sobre la misma por parte del clima y del ser humano durante los últimos 11500 años, el Holoceno. De esta manera se ha constatado la existencia de refugios de elementos mesófilos y termófilos anteriores al Holoceno, como castaños, nogales y hayas, la colonización arbórea de los espacios durante el Holoceno inicial junto con una mejora climática, una tendencia hacia unas condiciones más secas y térmicas durante el Holoceno medio, y una tendencia a la deforestación de los bosques durante el Holoceno final. Además, se ha evaluado el alcance del evento 8200 cal BP, identificándose en numerosos registros; y se han detectado las primeras evidencias de antropización, de origen pastoril, en la segunda mitad del VI milenio cal BC; mientras que los inicios de la agricultura son posteriores, siendo la turbera de Monte Areo la que ha registrado la agricultura más antigua en Asturias, y corresponden a la primera mitad del V milenio cal BC (inicios del Neolítico). Es durante el Holoceno final cuando las actividades antrópicas configuran los paisajes actuales asturianos. Éstas se generalizan definitivamente en todos los registros desde la Edad del Bronce, momento desde el que se asiste a una amplia matorralización y apertura de los paisajes, mediada por el incremento de actividades ganaderas y agrícolas, y ya en fechas más recientes por plantaciones forestales de pinos y eucaliptos.
